How Game Mode handles SMS text messaging on behalf of youth sports organizations.

About Game Mode

Game Mode is a software platform used by youth sports organizations to manage tryouts, team registrations, payments, scheduling, and communication with parents and athletes. Organizations using Game Mode send SMS messages to their registered parents and athletes for operational purposes, including tryout reminders, schedule changes, payment notifications, and team announcements.

How Users Opt In

Users may optionally opt in to SMS communications by checking an unchecked consent checkbox when registering for a tryout, season, or program through any organization's public registration form on Game Mode. SMS consent is optional and is never a condition of registration or of any transaction — registration completes whether or not the box is checked. An opt-in is recorded only when the user checks the box.

The exact consent language displayed to users is:

By checking this box, I agree to receive SMS text messages from [Organization Name] via Game Mode. Messages may include tryout updates, schedule changes, payment reminders, team announcements, and registration follow-ups. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time. Reply HELP for help.

At the moment of consent, Game Mode records the exact text shown to the user, their IP address, browser user agent, and timestamp.

Sample Messages

Examples of messages a user may receive after opting in:

  1. “Hi Sarah, this is Coach Mike from Titans Baseball. Tomorrow's 12U tryout at 9am at Veterans Park is still on. Reply STOP to unsubscribe.”
  2. “Hi John, confirming we received your son's registration for the 13U tryout on May 15. Bring water, glove, and cleats. Reply STOP to opt out.”
  3. “Hi Lisa, this is Coach Tom following up about Jake joining our 14U team. Do you have a few minutes to chat this week? Reply STOP to unsubscribe.”
  4. “Hi Mark, your $250 payment for Spring Camp is overdue. Complete payment at gamemodeapp.com/pay/xyz. Reply STOP to opt out.”
  5. “Titans Baseball: Practice tomorrow moved to 10am due to weather. See you at Veterans Park. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help.”

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on the organization's activity level. Most users receive between 2 and 10 messages per month during active seasons. Frequency may be higher during tryout periods or in the lead-up to major events.

Message and Data Rates

Standard message and data rates apply per your wireless carrier plan. Game Mode does not charge users for receiving messages.

How to Opt Out

Reply STOP to any message at any time to unsubscribe. You will receive a confirmation message and no further texts from that organization. The following keywords also unsubscribe: STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT.

Opt-out is immediate and per-organization. If you have opted in to multiple organizations on Game Mode, opting out of one does not affect the others.

How to Resubscribe

Reply START to a previously opted-out conversation to resubscribe to that organization's messages.

Privacy

Phone numbers are used solely for communication between organizations and their registered parents/athletes on Game Mode. Phone numbers are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. See our full Privacy Policy for details.
